Taylor and Berklee | Amarillo Wedding Photographer

I have photographed over 250 weddings in my career. And while each one holds a special place in my heart and memories, there are a few here and there that will really hold a unique sentiment for me. For Taylor and Berklee, it had a lot to do with the fact that i had photographed her 7 years ago and had been smitten with her since then.

Taylor and Berklee had a sweet and intimate afternoon wedding celebration. As expected, they spent the entire time laughing together.

i just love this girl. and a first look. i looooove a first look!

Taylor and Berklee. Knowing you has been such a joy and photographing you through the years is a true honor. Your new life together is a great cause for celebration and i am honored to have been a part of your love story! Thank you for choosing me

Emma | Three Months

Please excuse my Texan. but y’allllllll….. we put a baby in a milk bath!

and surprisingly lived to tell the tale.

Emma is a complete doll.  I have yet to share her sweet birth story, but i couldn’t wait to post these. I’ve only ever done milk baths with big humans. So when her mom, Leslyn and I, were tossing around ideas for her three month photos…. we had this brilliant idea. Dad was there too. Mostly waiting to laugh at us and say, “i told you so” and/or catch a slippery baby.

But …. if this isn’t the cutest dang thing…. then i don’t know what is.

oh. phew! she loves it. she really loves itReally. Emma is the perfect way to spend an evening. I’ve come over just to hold her. Squeeze her. and coo over her. thank you for freely sharing her with me and for always being so supportive and encouraging and the best kind of humans to have in your life.

be infinitely blessed

Help Us Get to Nicaragua | Sale!

I know most of you know of my trip to Nicaragua last summer. If not, feel free to read more about it here. Many of you contributed to a campaign that helped get me there to build a home for a family; a family that i easily and quickly fell in love with.  In fact, the two communities we spent our time in truly impacted my being.

This fall, i have the opportunity to visit again. We will arrive in Managua, the capital of Nicaragua. I plan to revisit the family we helped last year and bring them clothing, household items, books, and toys. A couple of days later Laken and I will join another group to help build homes for impoverished areas in Padre Ramos.  We will be building  homes and also helping them plant trees that will later yield fruit.

Additionally, we will work closely with the families and women to establish a means of sustainable income.

This year, i’d like to bring Laken along for the trip. I believe that exposure to these cultures and under-developed countries is important. I want him to come away from this trip fully understanding all that he has and how he is capable of helping others who have less.

This very trip last year changed me tremendously. It was difficult and strenuous, but it catapulted me into a different way of seeing and living life.

If you feel called to help us, i would greatly appreciate it! I am forever indebted to those of you who helped me last year and hope to be able to share this experience with all of you again. I am more than willing and happy to WORK for these people. So if you would like to receive a mini session in exchange for your donation, i will gladly oblige. However, if you are wanting to just make a simple donation, that is also an option!!!

To make a donation, CLICK HERE.

To purchase a $100 mini session to be used between now and May 2018, CLICK HERE

i wholeheartedly appreciate any an every contribution and want you to know that your donation helps permanently change the trajectory of another family’s life. You may feel like you aren’t making a global impact, but i assure you that you are and these families and children are so deserving of your care and consideration. They are so loving and kind and appreciative. Please help me get back to them!

Caroline | Nashville Maternity Photographer

A few years ago, i met this woman. She is so patient and kind hearted. Soft spoken and nurturing. She quickly became like a long lost sister to me. When her husband had an opportunity in Nashville, they moved their family hours and hours away from my sad little heart.

When Caroline told me they were pregnant again, i planned to visit them in Nashville so i could be there to photograph the birth. But little man had other plans.

The night before i left, i insisted that Caroline take just a few maternity photos. We literally drove around the block, hopped out of the car, and took photos for about 10 minutes – 5 of which was spent letting my camera de-fog from the Nashville humidity and 2 minutes slapping away mosquitos and chasing fireflies.

As i pulled into the state of Texas, Caroline let me know she was in labor. I missed the arrival of their precious little boy by 2 hours. I imagine, we’ll laugh about that in the years to come. But right now i’m just gonna sit here with a few maternity photos and be bitter :-p

Dallas, Caroline, and B…. thank you for being my friends. and for giving me another place to feel loved and family. i miss you all so very much and cannot wait to see you again!

love, sarah

Kevin & Heather | Engaged

My favorite type of engagement session to photograph is one where the couple is unaware that i am there and they just have fun together. With Kevin and Heather, they went about themselves laughing and joking, and occasionally trying to take my direction. But then they would completely forget that i was there.

I love when a couple can just be engaged… and allow me to photograph it!

Kevin and Heather – i am so excited to be on board for your journey and your engagement. thank you for being kind and generous and for being happy and in love; allowing me to photograph your joy is such an honor and i am so refreshed and energized by your happiness!
